Safe Sender Lists and White Listing

Sometimes emails get deferred or end up in the Spam folder even though they are legitimate. Getting your address added to the Safe Sender List is a great way to decrease the odds of this happening. This is accomplished a bit differently among different email providers, for which we provide some tips below.

That said, in most cases, it is a simple two-step process of moving the email out of the junk/spam folder, and adding your email address to their address book.

Apple Mail (desktop)

If your message ends up in the junk folder, two things should be done:

  1. Move the message to the inbox. The email client will remember this and will be less likely to direct the message to junk moving forward.
  2. Add the sent from address to the address book. Right click the sender’s email address and click ‘Add to Contacts’.

Apple mobile devices

  1. Move the message to the inbox. The email client will remember this and will be less likely to direct the message to junk moving forward.
  2. Add the sent from address to the address book. Tap the sender’s email address, then tap ‘Create New Contact’.

AOL

  1. Mark the email as ‘Not Spam’.
  2. Add the sent from address to the address book by clicking ‘Contacts’ >> ‘New Contact’. Add the email address and click ‘Add Contact’ to finalize.

Gmail

  1. Mark the email as ‘Not Spam’ by opening the message, then clicking ‘Not Spam’.
  2. Add the sent from address to the address book by opening the contact list, then selecting New Contact.

Outlook

  1. Mark the email as ‘Not Junk’.
  2. Add the sent from address to the address book by opening the message, right click the sender’s name >> Add to contacts.

Yahoo Mail

  1. Mark the email as ‘Not Spam’.
  2. Add the sent from email address to the address book by opening the email and next to the From email address click ‘Add to contacts’.
