To help ensure that your emails are getting to your recipient's inboxes, rezora (and many other third parties) does not support the use of free email addresses for your rezora account. For the best results, you should use your brokerage-provided email address, or a self-managed custom domain provider (like GoDaddy, Squarespace, etc.). Read on to learn why this is important:
When it comes to using a mass email system, it is not recommended to rely on free email services such as Gmail, MSN, Yahoo, AOL, and others. One of the main reasons for this is the fact that these free email servers have implemented DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance) and other authentication measures to prevent the delivery of email from outside servers.
While DMARC is an important security measure for individual email accounts, it can pose challenges for those using mass email systems. When using a service like rezora, we are sending from our servers on behalf of your email address. However, free email servers like Gmail, MSN, Yahoo, AOL, and others often have strict DMARC policies in place to interfere with this. This means that if you try to send a mass email using these free email services as the "from" address, the email will fail authentication checks and be rejected or marked as spam by the recipient's email server.
In February 2024, Gmail and Yahoo led the way in taking this a step further. They implemented changes to require sender authentication for any emails being delivered to their systems. This means that senders will need to prove their identity and legitimacy before their emails are delivered to recipients, enhancing email security and reducing the risk of spam and fraudulent emails.
Since free email services don't allow for the authentication set up for outside services like rezora, we recommend using a company domain or a self-managed custom domain through a service like GoDaddy or Squarespace that can be customized to meet the new authentication standards. This allows you to set up authentication to specify that rezora's servers are authorized to send on behalf of your email. You can read more about setting up authentication in our Set Up Guide here.
In summary, while free email services like Gmail, MSN, Yahoo, AOL, and others are suitable for personal use, they are not ideal for sending mass emails. Their DMARC policies and other authentication measures can prevent the successful delivery of emails from outside servers. To ensure the effectiveness and deliverability of mass email campaigns, it is recommended to use a dedicated email service provider that caters specifically to bulk email sending.
