In this video, we will cover some overall changes to the template details page and how you can activate/deactivate templates for the three products of Lead Nurture, Drip Campaigns, and Automation.
The main three changes to be aware of are:
- You are now required to have a default subject line for all templates. Agents can of course edit this on their own as they normally can.
- Templates can now be activated in a single product -- for example, you can have your automation templates available for automation, but not for lead nurture.
- And finally, you can optionally set an expiration date for ALL templates. Even static templates, or ones that were used for company scheduled sends, now have this as an 'optional' field and it is no longer required for activating those static templates.

Hi there! And welcome to the new Template Details page. We've made some overall changes to this page with the goal of making things more consistent across the various products of lead nurture, automation, and drip campaigns, as well as making the process of activating and deactivating templates more logical.
The primary changes to be aware of are the following--
You are now required to have a default subject line for all templates. Agents can of course edit this on their own as they normally can.
Templates can now be activated in a single product -- for example, you can have your automation templates available for automation, but not for lead nurture.
And finally, you can optionally set an expiration date for ALL templates. Even static templates, or ones that were used for company scheduled sends, now have this as an 'optional' field and it is no longer *required* for activating those static templates.
With all that said, let's take a closer look at a few examples. We are going to set this template here as active for the 'lead nurture' product, so that our agents can create marketing pieces with it, and edit on their own to send to the contacts of their choice.
Initially you'll see some changes on the top of this page here, where we see more "universal" settings and details about this template. We've got our default subject line, which again is now *required*. On the right hand side we'll see a clear label of what kind of dynamic content is in this template.
Scrolling down we will see the bulk of the changes in this release. Here, we will manage the availability of this template. On the left, we have an indicator showing that this template is currently inactive in all three products. In this area to the right, first notice we have the "lead nurture" tab selected. Then, see that we have the ability to restrict this template to certain groups or agents, to admin accounts only, or to all groups and agents.
Directly beneath this, we see our optional expiration date. This is effectively a way for this template to be "scheduled for deactivation", so that at this date the template will become inactive. And finally we have the option to Activate this template. Let's go ahead and do so. And with that, this template has been fully activated, and if we come back to our Templates page, we see a new clean indicator that this template is 'active', in at least one of the three products.
Next let's look at another template here, one that we are using for Automation. Much of this will be familiar and exactly the same as the previous template, however now we can tab over to 'Automation', and see that this template is active in 1 automation event. Clicking this will bring us to the Automations page so we can manage those automation events.
We're also clued in right on this page if this template is 'eligible' for the various products, as this one here is NOT eligible for Drip campaigns because it contains the wrong number of dynamic items to fit that product.
You'll also see that this template is active in both the Automation product, as well as for the Lead Nurture product. But let's say we wanted to pull this one back from the Lead Nurture product, and only have it active for Automation. Let's click on the Lead Nurture tab, and select Deactivate.
Keep in mind that for both Automation, and Drip Campaigns, the 'active' status in these is determined by this template being included in an active Automation Event, or Drip campaign. So you'll see here that we cannot currently 'Archive' this template, and to do so we would need to revisit any associated Drip or Automation events and remove this template from them.
Looking at another template here, we see this template is inactive in all three products, so we can now simply click 'archive' to archive this template.
Finally, let's quickly look at a 'static' template, or one that we can schedule on behalf of our agents in the Lead Nurture product. We'll see here that of course this template is not editable, and as we scroll down we'll see all of the same info as before, but with an additional, and *optional*, Company Scheduled Send area. We can of course activate this template as-is and not schedule it, or we can fill out the date and time area here, select the appropriate sphere, and schedule it on behalf of our agents.
And that should cover all of the updates to this page! We sincerely hope you enjoy the new look and functionality, and the greater ability to manage the status of your templates across the various products. Thanks for watching :)
